Ian Brennan

Ian Brennan is Grammy-winning producer (Tinariwen) who has produced three other Grammy-nominated albums (Zomba Prison Project, Peter Case, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott). In the past decade, he has produced twenty-eight records by international artists from underrepresented regions across three continents (Africa, Europe, Asia) which have resulted in the first widely-released original music albums from many nations, among them Rwanda, Malawi, South Sudan, and Vietnam.

He has lectured on violence prevention and conflict resolution around the world since 1993 and has published six books on the topics of aggression, trauma, racism, and international inequity, including his latest, Silenced by Sound: the music meritocracy myth.

His work has featured globally including on the front-page of the New York Times, a segment on PBS television, The Guardian, Rolling Stone, and in an Emmy-winning segment of “60 Minutes” with Anderson Cooper reporting.
