Some voices don’t just sing—they carry entire histories inside them.
Maria Mazzotta is one of those voices.
Making her Seattle debut, the acclaimed Italian singer brings a sound rooted in Southern Italy’s traditions—where folk, ritual, and storytelling meet—but expands it into something urgent and alive. Her music draws from the pulse of pizzica and Mediterranean folk, then stretches outward into contemporary textures, improvisation, and emotional intensity that feels unmistakably present.
There’s a physicality to her performance.
A voice that moves between strength and vulnerability in the same breath.
A connection to tradition that doesn’t preserve—it transforms.
Maria first emerged as a key voice in the renowned ensemble Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, helping carry that legacy onto global stages. As a solo artist, she’s pushed even further—creating work that honors where it comes from while refusing to stay there.
This is music that speaks to longing, resilience, celebration, and release—often all at once.
And in a moment where so much feels fractured, there’s something powerful about gathering in a room and being carried by a voice like this.
This will be her first time performing in Seattle.
