Narayan Sijan in Egypt

Karavan Sarai is a bridge fusing ancient global melodies from Arabia to India and original compositions with modern electronics. The sound seamlessly links

musical impulses with the heart of ancient rhythms. Listen and hear the echoes of old world footsteps in the group’s songs. Karavan Sarai forges ahead where the tracks end. This is deep fusion. The group’s latest album, The Moons Within Reach exudes mystical energy. Songwriter Narayan Sijan found his inspiration for the albums opening suite in the silence and sounds of an ancient sarai in todays Egypt.

A sarai is a palace along the caravan Silk Road routes where mystics, merchants, musicians and travelers would stay for the night. Wanting to replicate the various cultures that one may encounter around the fire during the evenings celebration, this album took on a soundscape journey experience. Adding the angelic sounds of the Persian santoor with GRAMMY winning musician Hamid Saeidi, the divine voice of Tabea & bowed instrumentalist Gary Haggerty the music enters new realms.
