We went to the recently concluded #WOMEX2022 (Worldwide Music Expo) in Lisbon, Portugal 🇵🇹. WOMEX is the most international and culturally diverse music meeting in the world and the biggest conference of the global music scene, featuring a trade fair, talks, films and showcase concerts. We're thrilled to feature our first artist from WOMEX, Dino D'Santiago of Lisbon, Portugal 🇵🇹! ✨ He is a Portuguese singer of Cape Verdean descent, a champion of Lisbon's new wave of Afro-electronic sounds, and a mainstay in Portugal's hip-hop and R&B scenes. Inspired by his roots in Santiago, Dino blends traditional Cape Verdean music with new genres to create what is recognizable today as his signature sound, which can be heard on his albums. His music melds styles from across the Portuguese-speaking world, with a focus on countries around Africa. “Mozambique, Cape Verde, Angola, Brazil, Guinea, São Tomé: each country had its own sound,” explains d’Santiago. “Now we finally are combining those and transforming it into one unique sound.” His nomination for the MTV award in the Portuguese category has added attention to his talent.
