For many, Thievery Corporation was the entry point for Indian, Jamaican, & Brazilian Music, and an opening to various Dub Styles. Eric continues that journey with solo releases and various projects like new bands, hotels, & restaurants in the DC area. The new record and vibe have a deep nod to 1970s musical icons like Pharaoh Sanders, Sun Ra, Roy Ayers & George Clinton. All members of the influential Afrofuturist movement, which melded the spiritual and earthy sounds of their day with a soulful, freeform approach to music-making & improvisation. This paved the way for Trip-Hop, the genre that birthed Thievery Corp and continues to be today's evolving electronic micro-genres.
