Kosy brings together four women from different artistic backgrounds - folk, jazz, classical, and avant-garde theatre - to rediscover forgotten gems of the traditional music of Lower Silesia in southwest Poland, a region with a turbulent history, seat of the ancient Kingdom of Poland, bordering on modern-day Germany and the Czech Republic. Utilising shamanic drums, percussion, harmonium and violins and their four perfectly attuned voices they explore the multi-faceted repertoire of the “land of the blossoming apple tree” with a fresh celebratory spirit, that has seen them pick up awards at various Polish folk festivals. Their music is featured in the recently released film Dzień i Noc (Day and Night), which interweaves stories about female friendship and life close to nature, in the presence of supernatural phenomena and magic.
